Connect Twilio (telephony)

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Twilio is GodSetter's telephony carrier: the phone numbers your agents dial from (and receive calls on) are bought and hosted on your agency's own Twilio account. Like every provider connection in GodSetter, it's per-agency — numbers and call traffic bill your Twilio account, never a shared one.

You need Twilio connected before you can search for or buy any phone number in the Numbers page.

Before you start

  • A Twilio account with credit on it — numbers and call minutes bill your own Twilio account.
  • Account SID and Auth Token are in the Twilio Console → Account Info, on the console home page.
  • Regulated numbers (Italy among them) also need an approved regulatory bundle on your Twilio account before a purchase can go through.
  • Voice geographic permissions. Calls leave through an Elastic SIP trunk on your Twilio account: enable the destination countries under Voice → Geographic Permissions (Elastic SIP Trunking), or registration and outbound calls to those countries are refused by Twilio.
  • Editor access on the Connections area — owner, admin, or a collaborator an admin gave editor rights to.

Step 1 — Find your Account SID and Auth Token

Sign in to the Twilio Console. On the console home page, the Account Info panel shows the two values you need:

  • Account SID — the public identifier of your Twilio account (it starts with AC).
  • Auth Token — the secret paired with it. Treat it like a password.

Step 2 — Paste them into Connections

In GodSetter, open Connections and find the Twilio card ("Telephone carrier for calls"). Enter the Account SID and Auth Token. As the form itself notes: "Paste your Twilio credentials. They are validated before being saved."

Click Connect — or "Update credentials" if you're replacing existing ones.

Step 3 — Let the validation run

While the button shows "Validating…", GodSetter verifies the pair against Twilio:

  • Invalid credentials → you see "Invalid Twilio credentials. Check the data and try again." — and nothing is saved.
  • Valid credentials → "Twilio connection saved successfully." The card status turns connected with a "Validated on" date, and both values are stored encrypted (shown masked from now on).

Step 4 — Start buying numbers

  • Buying numbers in-app — the Numbers page can now search available numbers in any country and purchase them straight onto your Twilio account. See Buy a phone number in any country.
  • Registered on Retell for you — every number you buy is registered on Retell automatically right after the purchase: GodSetter creates one Elastic SIP trunk on your Twilio account (one per agency), moves the number onto it and imports it on Retell. Connect Retell first, and check the Retell column on the Numbers page: not registered means the number cannot dial or receive yet.
  • A number pool for your agents — once bought, numbers are assigned per agent, so each campaign dials out from the right number.
  • Buying is a spending action — a collaborator needs editor on Numbers and the Can spend permission.

Two honest caveats:

  • Regulatory approval. Regulated countries (Italy among them) require an approved regulatory bundle on your Twilio account before a purchase can succeed. The approval is handled by Twilio and is not instantaneous — sort it out before you need the number.
  • Billing is yours. Monthly number fees and per-minute charges follow your own Twilio pricing and appear on your Twilio invoice.

Next steps

  1. Connect your CRM (OAuth) — the last of the three provider connections.
  2. Buy a phone number in any country — put your new connection to work.
